Late Mr A. A. McLean
The death occurred at the Black- all District Hospital on September 28, after a short illness, of Mr Angus Alexander McLean, of Harden Park. Mr McLean was born at Broadmeadows, Melbourne, in 1861, and was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Robert McLean, who came from Scotland. Deceased's father in 1881 took up land in the vicinity of Springsure, owning property known as Minerva.

The late Mr McLean was edu-cated In Victoria. He began life as a jackeroo on Hilgay station, in the famous Wannon district. In 1881 he came to Queensland to assist his father and brothers in the working of the property in the Springsure district and remained there until the disposal of Minerva in 1889. He then went to South Australia, where he was employed in the pastoral industry. In 1892 he returned to Queensland and was appointed to the management of Bexley station, in the Longreach district. A year later he accepted the position of overseer on Kensington Downs, and subsequently managed Rainworth, in the Springsure district. In 1917, after having spent 18 years in the management of Belford, he disposed of his interests in Rainsworth and purchased Harden Park. He introduced rams from South Australia, and was also interested in cattle and bred good quality Shorthorns at Harden Park.

The late Mr McLean for a considerable time was member of the Bauhinia Divisional Board and for a lengthy period was chairman of that body. He was also a member of the Wyangarie Shire Council, North Queensland. During his residence in the Blackall district he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Barcoo Pastoral Society.
