- There was recently solemnised at Minerva, the residence of the bride's family, a pretty wedding, when Mr. A. J. Carden Collins, son of Mr. J. Carden Collins, Greenwell, Gracemere, and manager of Messrs. Archer Brothers' St. Helens Station, was married to Miss Elizabeth Wills, eldest daughter of Mr. C. S. Wills, of Minerva, Springsure. The event was of more than ordinary interest from the fact that the contracting parties are de cendants of the families belonging to that class of pioneer squatters who did so much in the early days to open up the interior of this continent, and who still, through all the varying changes of fortune, preserve an honoured name in the land where thoy once held wide sway. The bride's family, who originally established the large squatting station of Cullin-la-ringo, will long be remembered for the tragic events that led to the murder of some of the family by the blacks. The ceremony took place at Minerva in the presence of a large number of guests. The dancing room was prettily decorated for the occasion, and the service was performed by the Rev, R. E. Bryant.

Queensland, Cedric Spencer, second son of the late H. S. Wills, of Bellevue, Geelong, and Cullinlaringo, Queensland, aged 69 years.

PERSONAL
The friends of Mr. Cedric S. Wills, formerly of Geelong, will learn with regret that he died in Springsure, Queensland, on January 23. Mr. Wills was one of the pioneers of the Central District of Queensland. He went there immediately after his father and party of 18 had been murdered by the blacks, on Cullinlaringo, and man aged the property for many years. At the time of his death he was engaged in pastoral pursuits on Minerva, near Springsure.

Elizabeth married Arthur John Carden Collins on 5 Feb 1897. Arthur was born on 26 Mar 1873 in Stanage Cattle Station, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. He died on 15 Feb 1956 in Bowen Queensland Australia.

Known as Uncle Jack. For some years he managed Millungara Station, about 105km north of Julia Creek. He then owned Bezuma nearby - later passed to his son Egbert. Nephew Bob [Robert James Carden], son of 'Cardie' also worked there. Note from p 242 of 'Rockhampton: A History of City and District':- Re the drought of 1902-03. "The Archers' most crippling losses occurred on St Helens which before the drought and under A. J. Carden Collins' management carried 7,000 Herefords and a stud herd of Durhams." John Lockhart Gibson says his mother and sisters spoke fondly of Jack and Duke Collins. See document with his obituary.
