PERSONAL
The friends of Mr. Cedric S. Wills, formerly of Geelong, will learn with regret that he died in Springsure, Queensland, on January 23. Mr. Wills was one of the pioneers of the Central District of Queensland. He went there immediately after his father and party of 18 had been murdered by the blacks, on Cullinlaringo, and man aged the property for many years. At the time of his death he was engaged in pastoral pursuits on Minerva, near Springsure.

RESIDENTS of Alpha were shocked to hear of the recent sudden death of Mr. Cedric Henry Spencer Wills.
Mr. Wills, who was born in Springsure, was educated at Rockhampton Grammar School. As a young man he went to Aramac Station as overseer and after a few years be came manager.
When Aramac Station was thrown open for selections, Mr. Wills bought Edgbaston in the Aramac district.
Later he purchased The Grove, Alpha, where he resided until his death.
Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, daughter Norma (Mrs. Rostron, Alpha) and son Allan, his father, Mr. Horace Wills, of Springsure, sisters Marge and Ida Wills, Springsure, Jessie (Mrs. C. Shailer, IIfracombe), and a brother, Stuart, who lives at Ayr.

Obituary
Horatio Spencer Howe Wills was born at Cullin la ringo on 28th August 1876 was the eldest son of Cedric Spencer Wills.
He spent his early years working at Cullin la ringo with his father and except for a short period of employment in Rockhampton he spent his life among stock, which included droving from the Gulf Country to Springsure. He also operated a wagon for a time engaged in the carrying business. He was a top horseman and engaged in
horse-breaking. The family were engaged in horse breeding for the local market as wellas for export and hundreds of horses passed through Horace's hands.
He managed Minerva Creek for the family from about the turn of the century until 1908 when he sold his interests in the property to other members of the family. He then agisted country in the district until he selected "Wallalee" and "Erskinville" in 1908 near Springsure.
Due partly to his wife's ill health and partly to the need to educate his children, he sold Wallalee and Erskinvale and moved to Springsure where he invested in town property and set up as a Stock
and Station Agent in which business he continued until a few years before his death. He continued as a stock owner on a small scale until he died.
He will be remembered by many for the active interest he took in local affairs. He was a Shire Councillor and later Chairman for nearly thirty years and most of that time he was on the Hospital Board. He was a member of the Oddfellows' Lodge, Masonic Lodge and Parochial Council of the Church of England.
Horace was twice married. Alice (nee Cooper whom he married in Rockhampton in 1901) gave him three sons and two daughter. By his second wife, Sybil Hassel he had one daughter.
He died in the Springsure Hospital on 30th August, 1960.
