M. C. COWLEY Advice has been received of the death on May 17 last in a prisoner of war camp at Sandakan, Borneo, of Pte. Mervyn Cecil Cowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cowley, of Lloyd-street, Private Cowley, who was with an AIF postal unit, was in Singapore only 10 or 12 days before the capitulation, and thus spent most of his service as a prisoner of war. Prior to joining the AIF in 1941, he was head teacher at the Mount Charlton State school. He was 28 years of age. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Mr. A. S. Cowley, of Mackay, and Mr. P. F. Cowley, of Home Hill.
