Twin of Ellen
Started school at Mt. Perry Oct 1874, age 5 yrs. 1903-1925 Electoral Rolls, off Heusman Street, Mt. Perry. George Gregory Townsend twin of Ellen Augusta, born 1869 became a carpenter and later an undertaker in Mt Perry. He was a handsome man with luxuriant dark hair and a thick moustache. Sometime prior to 1897 he married a local girl Mary Christina NAESE. Over a 16 year period they had six children; Daisy 1897 who married Lewis WILLIAMS and died in 1987; Marion 1900 who married George LASSIG; George "Son Boy" born 1903 who died in 1929 as a result of injuries received in a train accident; Harold 1906 who died in 1988; Muriel 1909 who never married and William 1913 who married Patricia LEIS and died in 1981. George G.T. was President of the MUIOOF at Mt Perry in 1901 and was only 59 when he died there in 1929. His wife Mary was 82 when she died in 1954 at Bundaberg. She and George are buried together in Mt Perry's well-kept cemetery. |
