The Age (Melbourne) 9 Mar 1918
SNADDEN. — In fond remembrance of our
dear brother, Corp. Walter Snadden, late of 24th
Battalion, died from wounds received in France. Sth
March, 1017.
'Tis sweet to know we'll meet agaln,
Where parting is no more
And that the ones we loved so dear
Have only gone before.
An Anzac.
— Inserted by his brothers, Jim and Harold (on
active service) and his sister, Dorrle.

The Argus 14 March 1917
SNADDEN- Died of wounds in 5th General Hospital, on the 3rd March, Corporal Walter Snadden, dearly beloved eldest son of James and late Agnes Snadden, Buckley street. Footscray; brother of James, Euphemia, Robert, Harold, Herbert. and Effie; aged 36 years.

Independent (Footscray) 17 March 1917
ROLL OF HONOR
CPL. WALTER SNADDEN.
After two years' service Corporal Walter Snadden is reported dead of wounds on March 8. He was a member of the 21th Battalion. A.I.F. He went through the Gallipoli campaign, was at Lonesome Pines and saw all the hard fighting in France without a respite. He was wounded in the arm at Gallipoli, and nearly buried alive at Lonesome Pines. He suffered two attacks of malaria fever. He was in delirium for three days and was so bad that he had to be straight jacketed. Once, he was in hospital for three days, and should have stayed longer but with indomitable pluck he moved out when his battalion moved rather than be separated. For a time he was directing a gang of Kaffirs on road-making in France. Strenuous days he led. Only one day's leave did he have. In his case it was very true, as someone has said that the Australians were the highest paid and the hardest worked men in the lines. Corporal Snadden was the eldest son of Mr James Snadden, of Buckley st., 36 years of age, and single. He was a machine engineer at Eldridge's Stanlard Quarries before enlisting. Two brothers are on service. Harold is with the Light Horse in Egypt and James with the Army Service Corps in France. Captain Orr, late of Albert street, is a cousin.
